Nerd Alert!

books

Alden and I love to read together. We enjoyed reading our first book together while we dated, got engaged, and even into our marriage. Since then we've read Harry Potter Seven, and just finished the Hunger Games series. SO... whats next?! Here are a few ideas we have had but I would love your opinions!!! Anybody read a good book lately? We would love a great business book, a good fiction, or a great biography/autobiography.

  1. We just finished The Three Musketeers, it was def a favorite. (and it's a classic, so you can feel all smart about yourself when you are finished)

I have been anxiously waiting for my lastest Amazon purchase to get here—Delirium. It's based on a distopian society (like The Giver) and the reviews say it'll be pretty great!

  2. The E Myth Revisited is a good entrepreneur book. Talks about three stages/differences of entrepreneurs.

Good to Great, is always a good book. It talks about the difference between good companies, and great companies.

The big short is a good stock book, if you're into stocks.

I can go on forever if you want some good business books. Let me know. :)

You can always read Dan Brown books. They are the best!!!

  4. I hear 'unbreakable' is a really good book. Novel-like biography type about a ww2 prisoner of war

One of my all time favorites is 'The book thief'. It's amazing. Have you read it?

  5. I just finished The Scarlet Pimpernel and LOVED it. The best part about it is that it has elements for both men and women: romance, action, deceit... it's all there and it's all good. I highly recommend it.

  6. If you want a good business/economy/nerdy book, definitely read Naked Economics. One of my favorites. :)

  7. ah! I HATED "The Giver!" we had to read that when I was like in 4th grade or something and I was horrified. Anyway...business books...hmm..not my cup of tea, but maybe Wolfgang knows some. I'll get back to you :)

  8. Love the Scarlet Pimpernel! Great suggestion. Jane Eyre is a family (okay, girls) favorite! And I can read any Jane Austen over and over.

But what I'm hung up on right now, literally... is my Stats textbook. Ugghhhhh!

  10. The Tracker - it's the most powerful and magical high spiritual adventure since The Teachings of Don Juan."When somebody moves something in your house, you notice it. When somebody moves something in the woods, I notice it." It involves stalking and slapping bears and invigorating rhetoric. I feel both are essential to a meaningful life.

BTW - Do we still get to be friends?

  11. Landon and I read Eragon together when we were dating. Our nerd alert is that we named our little girl Ariah and had the idea from Arya the princess in that book. When I need a good book to read I always pop over to Nicole Winegardner's blog. Also have heard that the Rangers Apprentice series is really good. Such a fun hobby to have together!

  12. If you haven't read The Giver yet, I'd say it's a great choice. To make it even better read Gathering Blue next. It's sort of a companion book by Lois Lowry. And then read Messenger. It ties the two together. I love that you're doing this :)

  13. Steve and i read all of 'the hunger games' on our road trip, made the hours fly by! President Monson's bio came out recently, i haven't read it yet but Pres Hinkley's was great. It's fun to really get to know the prophets.

if you want something shorter and a page turner read 'the help' by kathryn stockett, another heroine though..can alden handle it?
