picture from sunday suppers

Being engaged has its pros and cons but for the most part I am just trying to enjoy this once in a lifetime moment. I love planning things and I love being inspired by peoples creativity. Here is picture that I found that is fueling my ideas for the wedding. Love the neutral color pallet and of course the beautiful breads and cheeses, not to mention the detail label cards and serving platters.

Shop till you drop

Its a good thing that my little fiance' likes to shop. Every Thursday (cuz thats my day off) we ride the bus for almost 2 hours into Honolulu to do wedding shopping. We usually shop for 8-9 hours. It may sound weird but these little trips solidify that we are so good for each other. We enjoy ourselves the entire day and stay pretty much cranky free all the way to the end. Last night was no exception when the bus came at 9:00 pm instead of 9:08 pm which meant we had to wait another hour and a half for the next bus..... argh! Can't wait till we have a car. But I got fitted for my wedding dress and picked up some nice little treasures at Nordstrom Rack Love that store.

ps. Tip #1 for Hawaii. If you take the bus, bring a jacket. They pump cold air through those things and I freeze everytime!

Back and Better than ever

Its strange to think that the last time I blogged I hadn't
even met this guy yet. So thats the news, thats why I am blogging.
I am engaged, in love, and going to get married to Alden Aikele on
June 19, 2010 in the Rexburg, ID Temple. Here are a few pictures from
the actually engagement in Hawaii (thats where I live now).
Yes, I know you are probably wondering how I went from
Provo UT to Laie HI and what happened in between. Well I plan on
doing some posts of the highlights from the last months so stay tuned.

I'll be honest, I was expecting a surprise. You know the kind,
the surprise with the sparkly ring and bended knee. However,
when your expecting a surprise it can hardly be called
a surprise anymore. But when you are awakened
at 5:45 in the morning unexpectedly, surprise is
all that seems to come to mind. Is this "the"
surprise? My heart races a little. I was
told I had an hour to be ready and that we
would be taking the bus. I rushed to get ready and of course
I was stressing over what to wear and shaving my legs
and silly little things. Next thing I knew I was being pushed
out the door and blindfolded. Complaining, I argued
that I didn't want to wear a blindfold on the bus.
"Everyone's going to stare!" I took
a few steps and to my delight he said, "You're in luck!
We aren't taking the bus. We are taking a scooter!"
I climb on blindfolded scared to death but I know
that I trust him and all will be ok. We scoot around
making wild turns and going here and there till
I am all confused. Jumping off the scooter I hear the
BYU-H bells chime, its a dead give away. We
must be close by. Alden guides me down some stairs
(still blindfolded mind you) and onto the beach
carrying me on his back. He pulls off the blindfold
and we are on the beach with the sun coming
up over the horizon. Walking down to the water my heart starts
to pound and I get butterflies like crazy. He pulls me
in close and I can feel his heart pounding, just like the
first time he put his arm around me. He drops
to a knee and pops the question. And of course I say
yes. We drive up the coast and get breakfast on the
North Shore. Then on the way back we stop at
a surfing competition. While watching the surfers
we saw whales in the distance, WHALES. Thats
got to be a sign of good luck right? One last stop
on the way home at a garage sale. We buy a skateboard.
Alden gets a skateboard and I get a diamond ring.
We are both pretty happy because we get each other.

Thats how it happened.
And that is what I call love.

A little picture of the sparkly :)

My mother. Another golden ticket

Throughout my life I have been very blessed. Some of the big or significant events that have happened I like to call.... getting the Golden Ticket. The biggest golden ticket I have received is my mother. Any of you that are lucky enough to know my mom would agree that knowing her can't help but give you a new outlook on life.

I've realized recently that my mom and I can be surprisingly different. But that is why I love her so much. She is my main motivator and encourager for me to go beyond what is comfortable or easy, and reach for challenging new things that will help me be the person I need to be.

Mom, you are my strength, my hope, my motivator and my friend. I thank God I was so lucky to have a mom that would sacrifice to help me be all that I can be, a mom who is positive and full of faith. I love you mom.
