Halloween // Roaring 20's Style

When Alden's parents bought their current home the back party room (where we used live!) came with an old bar straight from San Francisco. Not a mini bar or a bar cart but an actual full size bar! We don't drink alcohol so this thing hasn't got much use, but when the idea came about of having a Roaring 20's Speakeasy party for Halloween we knew just the place! There was murder, mystery, drinks, beautiful women and dashing men. All and all I'd say this party was the cats pajamas!

Halloween usually brings out the worst in me. I have a history of bad Halloweens. If it wasn't the terror of coming up with a costume it was the horror of being a vampire when all your friends were princesses. One year a friend and I were too old to go trick r treating and not cool enough to go to parties so we cut some holes in some black garbage bags and put them over our heads and then we ate chocolate pudding with no hands. yum.

Halloween was alright this year. It made a wicked comeback, and it brought me along with it. Thanks to a last minute pumpkin party with friends and a man in a tux (who just so happens to be MY man and James Bond, lucky girl). So here I am, raised from the dead and back to blogging. Happy Halloween Everyone.

Alden and I attended our first murder mystery party.
It was quite fun. Alden was "Pony" the commune rebel.
I was Judy, the bass player in the band Marmalade Skies,
and the recent widow to whose murder we were solving.

It was a night full of slander, cheating, lying and murder!
Oh and great food :)

*Thank you Candace and Beau for Hosting a great party and
Summer and Thad for letting us have it at your house.

Last years Halloween.... inspired by Where the Wild Things Are. Thank you mom for making full body suits and thank you Hayden and Maddie for letting us steal them.

Scream

This years pumpkin carving inspiration came from the painting "Scream" by Edvard Munch (speaking of Halloween, what gets more Halloween than the name Edvard? Seriously, say it out loud right now, you sound exactly like a vampire.... not Edward the vampire, Edvard. Anyway, you get it...) We have a motto around here, when in doubt copy something REALLY good. Like something they talk about in Art History classes. This wouldn't be my first classic art copy cat... remember my starry night Easter egg anyone?
Here is our rendition of "Scream"... I traced it and Alden carved it... while I did dishes. A true team indeed.
This is our pumpkin next to our little Rose. She is/was a mini rose bush. We neglected her. She died. The end. Happy Halloween.
